We believe we are the longest running Wild Med Course in the Mid-Atlantic Region and this year is our 15th year. We are one of the most unique Wilderness Medicine Conferences on the planet. The vision for this course is to be held entirely outdoors. All of the lectures, workshops, and meals are held in the woods of Hanover, Pennsylvania. All of our Faculty have personal, real world experience with the topics that they are teaching. We encourage our Faculty to share personal stories of their adventures related to their topic. Another mission is to support the Wilderness Medical Society's (WMS) Fellowship of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM). Many of our Faculty are graduates of the FAWM, while a number of them are FAWM Candidates. Each year at our Conference, we inspire a number of registrants to enroll in this program. Our topics are chosen specifically to assist FAWM Candidates in obtaining as many FAWM credits as possible.

Our Conference typically follows a three year rotation of themes:

2023 theme: Winter & Cold / Winter Survival

2024 theme: Canceled - Travel & Tropical / Urban Survival
2025 theme: TBD - Summer, SCUBA & Altitude / Summer Survival

It is with great sadness to inform our attendees and supporters that after hundreds of hours of work and planning, we will be unable to host the PAWildMed Wilderness Medicine and Survival Skills Conference this year. We know many have been eagerly anticipating this conference.

Thank you for your patience as we worked diligently to try to salvage this year’s event. We are incredibly sorry for this delayed announcement. Some of you are aware that certain parties attempted to cancel the conference last year and we were able to prevail. Unfortunately, the short-fused pull out of support this year just did not leave enough time for us to create proper solutions to ensure the conference experience is as epic as it has always been for our attendees and volunteers.

In the true spirit of WildMed, we will adapt and overcome as we “Find Adventure!” Sometimes we must travel through the valley to make it to the next mountain top!

If you see a turtle on top of a wall or fence post, it didn’t get up there by itself, and we forever thank the hundreds of volunteers that dedicated tens of thousands of hours to this wonderful conference. We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of your helping hands, support, knowledge, skills, expertise, and unique talents. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and are eternally grateful for a wonderful trek up to the mountain, for being with us in times of trials and tribulations, and through times of loss and celebration over the last 20 years. 

We look forward to and will embrace the freedom and new opportunities this provides. We have already been blessed with a significant number of new sponsors and supporters, as well as several huge investments into the infrastructure for the conference. This will help to make the future conference even larger and more amazing!
